Shot By Shot Deconstruction

Although I had completed all of the deconstructions set by my lecturer, it was then suggested to gain a better understanding of why different camera angles are used that I should complete a shot by shot deconstruction. I decided to deconstruct pop/rock band, Panic at The Disco's music video, 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies'.

Here is my shot by shot deconstruction, analysing the purpose of each of the different shot types featured in the video and the reasons I believe the director chose these. I have uploaded this presentation onto Slideshare. I found this exercise to be very helpful as it helped me to understand the reasons behind different camera shot types, not just using them because they look 'right' but to convey certain messages, settings, actions etc to the audience.
