Pop/Rock

Further to deciding upon the 'pop' genre for my portfolio of work, I have now decided upon a sub-genre and a slight change to my original target audience. I have used my Facebook Research Group to help me decide upon my sub-genre by asking generic questions in order to gain feedback on the sub-genre 'pop/rock'. Below is the WikiPedia Definition of Pop/Rock

As mentioned above in the video, some members of the Facebook group are 17 going on 18. The overall age range of my research group varies from 12-18 year olds. Therefore, I have decided to alter my initial target audience of 12-17 year olds and will now be aiming at 12-18 year olds which is one year older than I had initally intended. However, I feel that I will be able to successfully engage with this age group having fallen into this age bracket myself.

As you can see from my research group, the chosen sub-genre and inspirational bands have proven popular with my target audience. Comments say how they predict this will be a successful choice as they believe the inspirational texts/bands of McFly and to an extent One Direction have achieved global success.
I am now satisfied with my decision of genre/ sub-genre and am content to work with the constant aim of pleasing my now defined target audience of 12-18 year old females.
