What have you learned from your audience feedback?
During my research and planning stage, I created a reader profile detailing who the ideal reader of each of my texts (music video, website and digipak) would be. This details initially what age range they are, what their hobbies would include, their favourite TV shows, interest in shopping and their musical taste. Below is the link to the blog post containing this.
I have had to bare in mind my audience enormously when creating my own products because ultimately, it would be these people who would invest their time/ money into buying and viewing my products. I found selecting this target audience helpful, because I myself fall into the target audience umbrella, and could therefore apply my own interests and thoughts into my creation.
HOWEVER, using social networking sites such as Facebook, and the research group that I had set up on there was crucial, as I was able to post photos of my work and gain instant feedback which implied whether I was working on the right track for my target audience's interests.
Here are some images of what my target audience might look like. As mentioned in my reader profile, I would like my target audience to be very socially active, and get together, be it in school or in their own time, to discuss things that are of interest to them (such as things seen on the internet or new latest releases from a band). My target audience are primarily school age, hence why I have included photos of some of my friends in their school uniform. My target audience is girls only and I chose their age group based on the fact that this age group is most impressionable upon their parents... meaning they are most influential regarding their parents wallets. This would therefore encourage sales of my products to soar, as well as this age group starting to become financially independent, I wanted to create products that would encourage them to spend their money on something valuable to them, and tried to achieve this within my products. All my products are appropriate for the target audience, with limited sexual innuendo embedded into the music video that only the older members of the audience would pick up on through the presentational codes of the facial expressions of the males when the camera turns very briefly to the rear of the female actress. The contents particularly of the music video is something that is relevant to the target audience, being pursued by a teenage boy an often not showing any interest whatsoever.
I therefore feel that my target audience would be interested in my products as they are relevant to my target audience and focus on fun and brightness, which I believe that teenage girls should be exposed to, rather than gritty and depressing music products which can upset younger viewers.
Here is some feedback from my Facebook group suggesting why they are interested in my products:
