This is a still from my narrative video shoot in which actress, Hazel Pude is the female lead. I wanted to achieve a 'retro' and unique style for this character, firstly because she is described in the lyrics of the song as unique and hinted at her individuality.
I chose the costume I did because I felt that they best showed off my female actress for her attractive body physique and facial beauty. The blue pencil skirt hugged her body and curves, emphasising to a young female audience that you should have the confidence to wear something that can show off your curves, as beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. The crop top linked back to a 'retro' feel of the 50's rock and roll age in which my selected genre of music is based on. Similarly, it also emphasised her curvaceous body and made her sexually attractive for the males, making it more comedic when she shows no interest in the characters at the end of the video. The denim jacket is an infusion of different eras, and is a piece of cothing (as is the whole outfit) that would be worn by a modern teenage audience. I therefore felt that the mode was covered enough to maintain dignity, but also suggestive enough for the video to appeal to a wide audience.
I used Pinterest to help me gain ideas for her costume and then adapted these ideas with what was achievable. Here are the ideas I found from Pinterest. Please click on the image to view it on Pinterest.
