I have found a cd from pop/rock legends, The Beatles. The thing that I find most appealing about this cd digipak is the use of monochrome colours and simplistic design. I enjoy the fact that the focus is on the music included rather than any distracting and fancy images. Also, the genre of pop/rock with it's origins of rock n roll is clearly displayed here, and this shows the audience what they are buying into listening without even looking at the tracks. I believe that their global success could be due to the humble approach that their digipaks promote, with no real focus on images of the band members. I believe that this sense of humbleness is a positive connotation to promote for a young, mainly female impressionable audience and I too would like to promote this when creating my own work. I feel that by focusing on the name of the band, and keeping, especially the front cover of the package stripped back, the audience are given a sense of enigma which would encourage them to buy the digipak in order to listen to it for themselves. I believe this is a clever hooking device, and in terms of lack of images, the audience might be encouraged to buy the package with the allusion of images being included on the inside.
